Torrents is getting a boost for the New Year, as Torrents.co.uk has announced it has surpassed the 10 million downloads mark.
Torrents has been downloaded over 100 million times and is currently at a peak of around 1.8 million concurrent users per day.
“This is the biggest month for torrenting since October, when the number of concurrent users in the UK was just under 1 million,” Torrents co-founder and CEO, Michael Smith, said.
He said the company has also been able to bring in more visitors, reaching 10 million users per month.
This has been a good week for the company, which is seeing more visitors from China, South Africa and India, he added.
Smith added that the UK’s internet speeds were “fastest in the EU”, which has also helped the site become one of the top-rated in the world.
The website currently has more than 30 million concurrent downloads and has a global user base of more than 40 million.
Smith said he is optimistic about the future for the site and is confident it will continue to grow.
However, the UK is not alone in its recent internet speeds.
In France, the country has surpassed 1 million concurrent connections per day and is seeing over 40 million downloads per day, according to Torrents statistics.
A number of other countries are currently experiencing similar trends, including the United States, Japan, Australia and Germany, according the Torrents team.
